Lift buttons not space age tentacles is an abstract depiction of the interior of an elevator. Painted in oil and beeswax, this work takes inspiration from elevator buttons in a metallic building at Imperial Wharf in London, which evokes nostalgia whilst having a futuristic aesthetic.

The elevator is a quintessential component of office spaces in tall buildings, frequently depicted in various series and media representations of workplaces. In this piece, Fuller reflects on the office architecture phallic skyscrapers as a metaphor for the race to success and as opulent displays of power.
