In Here Lies Our World, Polly Morgan transforms iPhone packaging into a miniature cemetery of obsolescence. Five cement tablets, cast from the inside of the latest phone box, overlap like gravestones, mourning the constant churn of upgrades and self-reinvention. Nestled in the camera lens cavity of the rearmost tablet, a brightly coloured snake coils. Each snake is a slightly altered version of the last, creeping forward in a slow parade of adaptive failure, evoking the algorithmic pursuit of perfection. It’s an elegy to a world obsessed with image, iteration, and irrelevance.
